FAQ.
You asked we answered.
Please contact making scents of soy if you have any further questions.
Should I trim the wick?
Yes, but soy wax melts at a lower temperature and has a deeper burn pool so just trim it a little if needed. If you over trim the wick you may swamp it and it won't stay lit.
Will the scent fade away once the wax gets low?
No, a generous amount of fragrance is mixed into the wax before the candle is poured so the scent remains the same, and is consistent to the end.
What is the difference between soy and paraffin wax?
I use soy wax made from North American soybeans that is sustainably sourced and clean burning. Soy spills can be cleaned up with with soap and water, and will not clog your drains. Many customers who use tarts/melts will apply the was as a hand cream after the scent has gone. (not recommended if the fragrance contained cinnamon though).
Paraffin wax is made from petroleum and a by product of oil refining. Depending on its origin, there could be various paraben, and carcinogen particles in the paraffin wax. There is usually a fair amount of soot produced when burning the candles and unlike soy it is difficult to clean up. It will clog your drains and it can be harmful to humans and pets due to the nature of
Why don't you use essential oils to scent the candles?
Essential oils are preferred by most in products, however they do not perform well in candles. They lose a great deal of their fragrance and due to their varying and generally lower flash points they can be hazardous in candles.
What does flashpoint mean?
Flashpoint is the temperature at which a fragrant or essential oil will become volatile. Also, if too much fragrance is added to candles it can result in flash burning and catch fire.
Can I use tarts in an electric burner?
Yes, they perform well with a tea light heart source or electric. They will melt faster than paraffin due to the softer nature of soy wax, and generally last from 10-20 hours with the amount placed in warmer. So if you only need two cubes in your warmer at a time, a pack with six cubes can last up to 60 hours! Clean up is easy with soap and water and soy wax will not clog your drains. Or, you can use it as hand cream during a Canadian winter.
